SEI: You & Me

I'm sharing a layout made with the Forever Sassy collection over at the SEI Lifestyle Blog. I'm in love with the Art Deco-ish patterns of this line!

You & Me
Supplies
Forever Sassy (Over the Taupe, Shellac Me, Very Daring, Vellum, stickers, Assorted Overlays, Sundries, Decorative Tape)

Here, I've used it here to showcase some photos of the super rare date night :) We don't get many of those...so of course I have to document it!

I love to use frames for anything other than framing. They're great for titles, embellishment clusters...and okay, framing photos, too. Here, I use it as just another layering element to help set aside a spot for journaling. I think it's important when designing a page to kind of have an idea where your title and journling go, so they don't end up looking squeezed in.

Bella Blvd: Mixed Media Projects

Yesterday, we were thinking beyond the scrapbook page over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog. I chose to use the new Color Chaos collection to make a dry erase calendar for the refridgerator...

Dry Erase Calendar
Supplies:
Color Chaos: Peep Strandz, Gulf Strandz, Guacamole Strandz, Scallop Strandz, Months, Treasures & Text, Trinkets; Invisibles: Calendar; Classic Calendars: Ice Calendar & Borders, Treasures & Text; Scattered Sprinkles: Ice Sprinkles, Treasures & Text; Freestyle Sophisticates: Freestyle Banana; Lucky Starz: Treasures & Text, Trinkets

The first thing that I noticed about the new Invisibles papers, was their super smooth surface...perfect for a dry erase marker. Then, when I saw the calendar, I knew that I wanted to hang it right on the refrigerator. I trimmed down the month cards, and mounted them along with some embellishments onto magnets. The magnets are the only thing holding it together. This makes it easy to switch out embellishments and backgrounds as the months change.

Bella Blvd: What's New Wednesday

We shared projects using the new Star Student collection yesterday over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog. This is probably my favorite of the four new winter collections. Here is what I came up with...

Back To School
Supplies:
Star Student: International Studies, Art Journal, Daily Details, Star Student Invisibles, Treasures & Text, Trinkets; High Five Alpha Stickers: Brown-Cream, Color Wheel; Enamel DooDads: Ice; Enamel Dots: Milk White

I am loving the new Invisibles collection. I really enjoy the specialty shaped papers, and it's always a fun challenge for me to incorporate them onto an 8.5x11 page. Sometimes, I can find a good spot to trim them down to use for a background, but I usually cut shapes or borders from them. For this page, I just trimmed off one of the edges of a bracket shaped overlay, and used it as an arrow to draw the eye to my photo.

There are loads of other great projects featuring more of the Star Student collection...be sure to head on over to Bella Blvd to check them out!

SEI: So Sweet Together

Today, I'm sharing a layout using the Sweet Sora collection from SEI.  The combination of burgundy, light pink, and aqua is one of my all time favorites. It's used a lot for Christmas and Valentine's Day themes...but I love it for just about anything.

So Sweet Together
Supplies
Sweet Sora (Pretty Tulips, Lovely, Stickers, Puff Stickers, Sundries, Die Cut Pieces)
Hoo's Sweet (Playful Expressions, Stickers)
Velvet Paper (Off White)
I've also used some off white velvet paper for the base of my page. Although, it's a little pliable...so I did mount it on to a plain piece of white cardstock. That way, I could also save patterned paper by just using 2.5 inch strips along the top and bottom, instead of using a whole sheet. I was a little nervous about it being hard to work with, but actually it was great. Everything sticks to it fine, and the only reason I stitched it on was to camouflage the lines from the patterned paper. Well, that...and I love how the stitching looks ;)

I really love how the black and white photo really makes those colors pop!

Bella Blvd: Friday Sketch

We have 3 layouts inspired by the same sketch up over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog, today...

Here is my take on it:

You 2

Supplies:Color Chaos: Scallop Strandz, Daily Details, Treasures & Text; Simply Spring: Treasures & Text; Invisibles: Pink Posies; Enamel DooDads: Ice, Oreo Black; Designer Tape: Chevron Combo

I loved this sketch! To scale it down to size, I decided to make use of all of the cute cards from the Daily Details paper in place of extra photos. This was a perfect opportunity to use a scalloped edge Invisibles paper, and I was excited to find that slightly less than half is a perfect fit for one side of my 8.5x11 page. To finish it up, I scattered Black enamel DooDads down the center in place of buttons.

Head on over to Bella Blvd to check out the other two fabulous takes on this same sketch....all using the brand new Color Chaos collection!

Bella Blvd: Free-4-All Projects

I forgot to share a project that was up over at the Bella Blvd Studio Blog on Friday. We created free for all projects using the new Star Student collection.

Teacher's Pet
Supplies:
Star Student: Chemistry, Borders, Daily Details, Treasures & Text, Amorie
Chipboard Alphas: McIntosh
High Five Alpha Stickers: Green
Designer Tape: Yellow Chevron
Enamel Dots: Milk White

I'm really excited about the Star Student collection. We homeschool, and usually I don't do 'back to school' photos, just a shot of each of the kids working on their first subject of the day. But, this past fall, I decided that there was no reason why I couldn't do a full first day of school photo shoot. I'm so glad that I did. This collection highlights them perfectly!

You won't want to miss all of the other gorgeous projects made with this super fun collection...and stay tuned there's lots more where that came from!

SEI: Hoo's Awesome

Today, I shared a card over at the SEI Lifestyle Blog using the Furry Friends collection...

Hoo's Awesome?
Supplies
Furry Friends (Swizzle Stick, Furry Friends, Sticker Sheet, Sundries)

I love shaped cards, and since Valentine's Day is coming up...I thought a heart shape would be perfect. I actually created this one using a mini album die. I thought the heart shape was pretty effective, so I kept it simple...

...Although, I couldn't resist adding some googly eyes to the cute little owl sticker.
